Special Needs Info
Rider Safety Guide
The Guest with Restricted Mobility and one riding companion may enter the ride after the remainder of the party waits in line. We continue to strive to make our guest experience enjoyable. We have listed below some information to assist you with your visit.
Admission
We do not offer a discount for guests with disabilities or pregnant women. Ohio’s Golden Buckeye card is not honored at Cedar Point.
Parking
Guests requiring a handicap parking space should turn on their hazard lights and ask a traffic director for the exact location. Permits are required to use these spaces. Don't forget to turn off your lights! In addition, there is an area near the main entrance designated as a drop-off or pick-up area for our guests with mobility issues.
First Aid
Two first aid stations are always staffed by a registered nurse. Refrigeration for medication with the exception of bee sting anaphylaxis kits, is available at First Aid. Personal emergency medications, such as an EpiPen, should not be left in the care of First Aid, as they need to be administered without delay. Although food and beverages are not allowed in the park, individuals who have special need/diet items due to a medical condition may bring small coolers in to accommodate such needs. Emergency medical care is available for overnight guests by calling 911.
TTY Phones/Ohio Relay Service
The Ohio Relay Service enables people who are hearing or speech-impaired to use their TTY (Text Telephone Yoke) to place calls to and receive calls from hearing people anywhere. The Ohio Relay Service can be reached by dialing 1-800-750-0750. A TTY phone is available at Guest Services for hearing impaired park guests. Guests of Cedar Point’s Resorts should go to the front desk of Hotel Breakers or Sandcastle Suites for access to a TTY phone. (A TTY phone is also available at the front desk of Castaway Bay.)
Assistive Listening Devices
Assistive listening systems utilize a lightweight wireless device that receives a signal from transmitters at certain locations in order to amplify sound. These are recommended for guests with mild to moderate hearing loss. To use the system, guest should obtain a receiver at Park Operations. A $20.00 refundable deposit is required. (Deposit is refunded only when receiver is returned to Park Operations on the same day.) This system is located in the following Live Entertainment venues: Centennial Theatre, Extreme Sports Stadium, Good Time Theatre, Red Garter and Palace.
Sign Language Interpretation
If requested at least one week in advance, Cedar Point will provide American Sign Language ( ASL ) interpretation at the following shows and attractions:
Camp Snoopy Theatre
Centennial Theatre
Extreme Sports Stadium
Good Time Theatre
Paddlewheel Excursions
Palace Theatre
Red Garter Saloon
To arrange for sign language interpreting services, please review our Live Entertainment Show schedule and send an email listing the dates of your visit and the shows you would like to see on each day to pbertsch@cedarpoint.com.
Rest Rooms
The following rest room facilities have stalls that meet ADA guidelines for our guests with disabilities: Main Gate, Demon Drop, Frontiertown (Public), Comfort Station, Mantis, Matterhorn, Space Spiral and Wildcat. The female rest rooms at Raptor and Arcade meet these guidelines as well. Most rest room facilities inside the park are equipped with handrails in at least one of the stalls. FAMILY REST ROOM FACILITIES for guests needing the assistance of another guest are available at Main First Aid, Pet Farm Rest Room on Frontier Trail, Matterhorn Rest Room and Camp Snoopy.
Ride Safety
Many rides at Cedar Point are dynamic and thrilling. There are inherent risks in riding any amusement ride. For your protection, each ride is rated for its special features, such as high speed, steep drops, sharp turns or other dynamic forces. If you choose to ride, you accept all of these risks. Participate responsibly. You should be in good health to ride safely. You know your physical conditions and limitations, Cedar Point does not. If you suspect your health could be at risk for any reason, or you could aggravate a pre-existing condition of any kind, DO NOT RIDE! Restrictions for guests of extreme size (height or weight) are posted at certain rides. Guests with disabilities should refer to our Ride Admission Policy available at the Park Operations Office or Town Hall.
Guests with a history of recent surgery, heart trouble/high blood pressure, neck trouble, back trouble, or any other condition that may be aggravated by riding, or who are pregnant, should carefully heed all warning signs at a ride entrance. If you are in doubt about your ability to safely experience a ride or would like more rider information, please request our Rider Safety Guide at Park Operations or Town Hall Museum. We’ll be happy to brief you on our Ride Admission Policy and explain how it applies to your specific situation. We hope we can help you enjoy your day more fully.
Section 1711.551 of the Revised Code requires that riders must obey all warnings and directions regarding rides and behave in a manner that will not cause or contribute to injury to themselves or others. Failure to comply is a misdemeanor.
Accessibility
Most shows and attractions are accessible. Information for accessibility of specific rides and attractions is available at Park Operations (419-627-2301).
Guests with Restricted Mobility and one riding companion may enter via the special access entrance after members of their party wait in line. Special access entrances are intended to accommodate guests who require the use of wheelchairs.
On most rides, guests will have to transfer from their wheelchair to the ride unit. See Rider Safety Sign at ride entrance for special access entrance.
Entrances are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs at the admission gates and aisles in most restaurants, shops and food stands are designed for easy movement of a wheelchair.
Motorized wheelchairs and service animals are welcome at Cedar Point. Wheelchair rental is available at the Rental Center near the Main Entrance. A limited supply of motorized wheelchairs is available for rent.
Guests may recharge their wheelchair battery at the Park Operations office.
Casts and Braces
Guests with casts and braces will be restricted from riding rides where the cast or brace will not fit inside the ride unit or where it will present a hazard to the guest or others. Guests with full arm (elbow restricted) and full leg (knee restricted) casts or braces are restricted from MOST rides at Cedar Point.
Prosthetic Devices
Guests with any type of prosthesis should not ride Power Tower, Raptor, Skyscraper, Skyhawk, Wave Swinger or Wicked Twister unless they can ensure the device is properly secured and will remain in place during the ride. If there is any concern of the prosthesis becoming dislodged during the ride, guests should contact the Park Operations Office for assistance.
The manufacturer of Maverick, Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster require documentation from the manufacturer of the prosthetic device guaranteeing that the prosthetic device has been designed to remain in place on a high speed roller coaster ride exceeding a maximum speed of 120 MPH (70 MPH Maverick) with maximum G forces from -1.5 G’s to 5 Gs with sufficient safety factor for single point failure. Questions? Please call 419-627-2301 prior to your visit.
Guests with Service Animals
Service animals are welcome at Cedar Point. All service animals must remain physically controlled on a leash or harness at all times. Service animals are limited to one animal per guest.
Due to the aggressive nature of most rides, service animals must remain with a non-riding member of the guest’s party. Guests should use the same attraction entrance procedures as described for “Special Access”, and may take advantage of our “Parent Swap” procedure to care for the animal. Cedar Point hosts and hostesses are not permitted to take control of service animals.
Service animals may ride on: Carrousels, CP & LE Railroad, Giant Wheel, Space Spiral and Paddlewheel Excursions.
Guests whose service animal demonstrates aggressive actions toward our guests or employees may be directed to remove the animal from the park.
